  • Mental Battle

    Elle Ann Brown

language (Brown Creative LLC, Oct. 16, 2018)
Just when everything started to go right, life went left. Way left.At twenty-four years of age, freshly settled into a comfortable dream job and an even more cozy dating relationship, Maddison Miller thought she’d already experienced how hard life could be. But after a horrifically tragic event made an unwelcome and unexpected course direction, she finds herself starting all over for the second time in less than a year, causing the crater in her couch—and her heart—to be at an all time low. Allowing friends, family, and faith to help would be the advice she would give any one of her clients in a counseling session, but she never had been successful at helping herself, only shutting down. All alone, “Now what?” is only one of the resounding questions beating her down in a never ending unruly assault. How will she start to rebuild yet again? How can she keep going when the one who helped pick her up last time isn’t there? What she can’t see coming around the bend, is that another unexpected introduction is about to change her life. Majorly. But oh how her mind torments her as the grief-filled days tick by slower than appreciated. And just when she starts to find herself enjoying life again, her over-active thoughts bear down in accusations, erupting in a vicious Mental Battle.
  • Mental Notes

    Elle Ann Brown

language (Brown Creative LLC, May 6, 2018)
Most consider life to be the people you know and the choices you make, but for Maddison Miller life is the ongoing, uncontrollable force that happens all around her. If she had it her way, life would look more like the perfect one she has planned in her head. The recent years fresh out of college haven’t gone anything like she envisioned. In fact, nothing has. Not her love life, her career, her relationships, leaving her with some serious trust issues and too much time spent alone. So when her co-worker invites her to a coffee house for an open mic night, she convinces herself to go. Because although she’d rather stay home where it’s safe, she’s come to realize that if there is any hope for even a shadow of her picture-perfect future to come to pass, she is going to have to start making some changes even if it means getting hurt. Again. And sometimes, as Maddison is soon to discover, the best life is actually what happens after all of your plans have come crashing down. However, choosing to let go and actually doing so is the constant struggle she faces. But just when she thinks she’s back on the right path to achieving her optimum goals, life comes along and once again scatters her Mental Notes.

  • The Really Weird Jungle

    Mike Artell

Hardcover (MJA Creative, LLC, May 15, 2017)
The wildest, silliest and weirdest creatures all live in the Really Weird Jungle. This colorful picture book introduces us to Dwirls who spend their lives upside down on their heads and Snootzers who refuse to get out of their beds. Among the other creatures we meet are Squawks (they shout loudly), Murks (they hide in caves) and Floops (they can't fly but keep trying to because they might). We learn that some of these weird creatures live underground and others live in trees. Some of them are tall, some are short, some are round and some are square. But the story explains that even though no two of them are alike, they share many of the same personality traits. They all like to run and play, sometimes they're happy and sometimes they're angry, they all have certain things that they do very well. Most importantly, they all know that deep down inside they're really the same. This key point of the story is reinforced with an illustration you'll have to see to understand. This picture book addresses the issues of diversity, sharing and friendship in a sweet way without ulterior motives. If you have a child that's different, special or one of a kind, or if you want to gently introduce your child to the idea that most differences are external, this is a book you - and your child - will love.

Mason Madrid is more than just the class clown - he's the class comedian. He's clever, funny and always on the lookout for ways to make his classmates and teachers laugh. Fortunately, his teacher (Ms Evans) keeps Mason on a tight rein to ensure that his jokes don't go too far or last too long. One day, the class gets some bad news and a substitute steps in for Ms Evans. Mason is delighted because he knows that substitute teachers are never as strict as Ms Evans. To his surprise, however, THIS substitute is a former class clown himself and he blocks Mason's every attempt to disrupt the class with his humor. But this substitute also appreciates Mason's talent for making people laugh and suggests to Mason that he might be able to use his sense of humor for a higher purpose. This gives Mason an idea and (with the help of his best friend Ezra and the unwelcomed help of Brandy - the girl who never laughs at Mason's jokes) he creates a video that is funny and inspiring. This is a story about the healing power of humor and how even a very funny kid makes a difference in someone's life.
